Argentina coach Alejandro Sabella has included Leo Messi in his squad list for next month’s 2014 World Cup qualifiers even though the player is embroiled in a tax fraud case, reportedly owing tax authorities 4.1 million euros.
Napoli striker Gonzalo Higuaín and Messi’s club team mate Javier Mascherano also figure in Alejandro Sabella’s squad for the meeting with Peru In Buenos Aires on 11th October and then against Uruguay four days later in Montevideo.
Higuaín and Mascherano were both serving suspension and therefore were unavailable to take part Argentina’s
Higuaín was sent off in the goalless draw against Colombia in June and Mascherano received a red card as Argentina were held by Ecuador four days later in Quito.
Mascherano picked up a hamstring sprain in Tuesday’s 4-1 win over Real Sociedad and is expected to be unfit to play for between 10-15 days.
Three other Liga BBVA players figure in Sabella’s list: Ángel Di María, Valencia’s Ever Banega and Celta’s Augusto Fernández.
