Miroslav Djukic was in despondent mood after Valencia were resoundly beaten at home to Swansea.
What is the solution to this team's problems?
The team came out with the intention of competing, but in 10 minutes we were reduced to 10 men. Everything went pear shaped from then on and we were swimming against the tide. I think the team's spirits are very low and we were especially bad with the ball. We couldn't string three passes together. What's the solution? To keep working, that's all we can do.
Do you fear for your job?
The only thing I’m concerned about is how badly we are playing. We have good players and a good squad but we haven’t been able to get things right. We are toothless going forward and we’re not secure in defence. We are having a tough, difficult time.
If you were the chief executive of the club and responsible for hiring the coach, would you stick with the coach at a time like this or opt for a change?
I would analyse the situation and take what I thought was the right decision.
What would you say to the fans that are not against you?
I’m the guy in charge, I’m not the good guy. So far we have not produced good performances and I’m the one to blame for that.
How did you take the fans' reaction?
I understand how the fans feel. I can't ask for any support after what we have done, we haven't deserved it. I am ashamed to ask for it. It's clear the players want to succeed, but the pressure is enormous and the fact that players of such quality cannot take more than three touches without losing the ball is a symptom that their minds aren't right and the situation is getting to them.
You have changed systems, players, philosophy..what is there left to change?
When things don't go well you have to take things one step at a time. First we need to sort out our defence. We have conceded four goals in each of our last four games and it's impossible to win games if you do that. We have to recover our defensive solidity and our ability to move the ball around, because when you lose the ball, you get punished by your opponents.
Do the players believe in your message?
The players want to win for the sake of their own egos. In my life I've never met a footballer that didn't want to win. But sometimes, due to different circumstances, things don't go well for you. The players want to win and want to do things well because right now we are in a dire situation.
