Carlo Ancelotti has confirmed that Iker Casillas will start in Real Madrid's first Champions League game of the season, away to Galatasaray.
The Madrid captain has had to watch all three of Madrid's La Liga games this season from the substitutes' bench, with his only appearances coming in friendlies against Al-Sadd and Deportivo La Coruña.
Diego López has started ahead of the 32-year-old in La Liga and is set to face his former club Villarreal tomorrow, but it will be Casillas who begins Madrid's campaign to win 'La Décima'.
"On Tuesday Casillas will play in Istanbul, that way the issue is more comfortable for us," said Ancelotti in a press conference on Friday.
If Ancelotti sticks to his word, Casillas' chances of leaving Madrid in the January transfer window would become less likely, as he would be unable to compete in the Champions League with any future club.
