Napoli fans are already celebrating the signing of Gonzalo Higuaín, before it has been made official. And they have done it in their own peculiar style, by sticking the finger into their rivals from the north, Juventus.
A group of Napoli fans travelled to the team’s training camp in Dimaro, northern Italy, on Tuesday with a banner, which has been posted on calcionapoli24.it, saying: “A real Argentine doesn’t play in Turin. Welcome Pipita.”
The message alludes to Juventus’ failed attempt to land the striker this summer. As well as the Serie A champions, Napoli beat off competition from Arsenal for Higuaín, as they were able to offer Madrid a higher transfer fee after cashing in on the sale of Edinson Cavani to Paris Saint-Germain for 63 million euros.
Higuaín did not travel to Lyon with the rest of the Real Madrid squad, with the aim of putting the finishing touches to his move to the Serie A side, now that the two clubs have come to an agreement over the transfer, for a reported 37 million euros, plus 3 million in bonuses.
He is expected to complete a medical later today.
