Málaga owner Abdullah Al-Thani has announced that the number ‘22’ shirt will be retired in honour of Isco. As was revealed by ‘Diario As’ on 22 June, the Spain Under-21 international is set for a summer switch to Real Madrid.
In a message posted on his Twitter account, Al-Thani wrote: “Shirts No. 22 will not be available to any other player in the Malaga cf courtesy to the player Isco.” This statement sees the Málaga supremo offer confirmation of the 21-year-old’s departure from La Rosaleda, despite neither club having officially announced the transfer. Following the appointment of Carlo Ancelotti as the new Madrid coach, the signing could be made official in the coming hours.
