Abel Resino is set to become Celta Vigo's new coach following the sacking of Paco Herrera.
Celta president Carlos Mouriño ran out of patience with Herrera following the 1-3 defeat to Getafe on Saturday, despite declaring his support for him on two separate occasions in the last two weeks.
The defeat to Getafe was Celta's third straight defeat and left them 18th in the Primera Division league table, four points behind 17th placed Real Zaragoza.
The club have yet to make a statement confirming the appointment of Resino or the sacking of Herrera, but Resino is due to be unveiled at a press conference on Monday evening.
Resino began his coaching career as the goalkeepers' coach of Atlético Madrid, later becoming assistant coach to César Ferrando in 2004-05. His first job as a first-team coach was with Murcia, followed by stints in the dugouts at Levante, Castellón and then Atlético Madrid, with whom he achieved Champions League qualification in season 2008-09, but was sacked in October 2009 after a poor start to the season.
He later became coach of Valladolid and then Granada. He left his post with the Andalusian side last summer despite keeping the club in the top flight on the last day of the season.
