David Villa will not travel to Milan with the Barcelona squad for their Champions League tie with AC Milan on Wednesday.
After the team's training session on Monday, Villa and stand-in coach Jordi Roura decided mutually that it would be better if the player was allowed time to rest after suffering from kidney stones last week, which forced him to visit hospital twice and miss Barça's game with Granada on the weekend
At first Barcelona's official Twitter account stated that he had been left out of the squad for footballing reasons, but the club quickly rectified this error on its official website.
Villa trained with the rest of the squad on Monday alongside Xavi Hernández, who is fit again after recovering from a hamstring injury and will travel to Milan.
Adriano joins Villa in staying at home, as the Brazilian picked up a hamstring injury during the 2-1 win over Granada, and had to be substituted.
