Didier Drogba made the perfect start to life at new club Galatasaray by scoring on his debut as the Turkish league leaders beat bottom placed Akhsar Belediye 2-1 away from home.
The former Chelsea striker began the game on the bench, while Wesley Sneijder, the club's other big-name signing in January, was named in the starting line-up.
The game was goalless until Drogba was brought on with an hour played, and he took just seven minutes to make his mark on the game. Galatasaray doubled their lead just three minutes later through Burak Yilmaz before Sertan Vardar pulled a goal back for the hosts with five minutes remaining.
Galatasaray lead the Turkish Super Lig, with an eight point advantage over Besiktas, who host Gaziantepspor on Saturday.
They host Schalke on Wednesday in the first leg of their Champions League last 16 tie.
