Real Madrid are understood to be confident that the Spanish football league, the LFP, will accept their request to play the league Clásico with Barcelona at 16:00 CET on 2 March.
Madrid petitioned the league to move the game forward so that the players would have more time to rest before the second leg of their Champions League tie with Manchester United the following Tuesday 5 March at Old Trafford.
'Los Blancos' originally wanted the game to be played on Friday 1 March but their request was rejected by the league, because other matches would have to be moved.
But their second proposal has been better received by the LFP, even though no definitive decision has been made yet.
Barcelona would, in theory, have no reason to oppose the proposed afternoon kick off, and neither would the television companies that are set to broadcast the match.
