Essien: "We'll give it our all to win the Champions League"

The Real Madrid midfielder spoke during a training session organised by Real Madrid's main sponsor.

Real Madrid's midfielder Michael Essien said today that the team would give it their all to win the Champions League this season. The competition re-starts next week with the Spanish club facing Manchester United in the quarterfinals on Wednesday night in the Bernabéu.

"The Champions League is hugely significant. As a footballer you dream of winning it. We'll give everything and see if we can win it", said Essien.

Striker José María Callejón recognised how difficult the tie would be, given the "strength" of the rival, but said Madrid wouldn't "make it easy for them". "Manchester United are showing how strong they are in the Premier, but we want to beat them and we'll do everything possible to go through", said the striker from Granada.

Keeper Antonio Adán sent out a message to the fans: "I'd say to the supporters that they should be as hopeful and excited as we are about going as far as we can in the competition, and we will keep fighting to the end, no matter what. Hopefully we will then all be able to enjoy it together".
