The member of the Civil Guard who ordered the arrests of defendants in Operation Puerto has confirmed on Monday, the fifth day of the trial, that documents seized in May 2006 showed that the product purchased by the client 'Rsoc' , believed to be Real Sociedad, had the abbreviation 'IG', which "normally" corresponds to growth hormone.
Lawyer Manolo Saiz showed the court a document forecasted for 2005 taken from Eufemiano Fuentes, the doctor at the centre of the doping investigation in which the reference appeared, showing the purchase of 40 or 50 units of IG.
"Normally we interpret these products as growth hormone," said the officer.
On the same day, former Real Sociedad president Iñaki Badiola revealed to AS that the club had made payments in undeclared money to Eufemiano Fuentes between 2001 and 2007 in order to obtain doping products. He also declared that the system to combat illegal doping practices was failing.
