Aitor Karanka admitted that Real Madrid were looking for a last-minute sale of Kaká in the January transfer window. He also revealed that Cristiano would be fit to face Barcelona and failed to shed any light on whether Diego López would start against 'Los Azulgranas'.
Best game of the season: "We can see an improvement. In the first half we created chances but they just weren't going in, chances that would've gone in before. After we scored the first, the team played like last year and were solid. We've got our confidence back."
Diego López: "He's no stranger to the club and we know the kind of person he is and that he's come here to give something to the team at such a crucial time in the season. Will he play against Barcelona? We're only thinking about today's game."
Cristiano: "Just to be on the safe side he was given an ice pack, but he didn't ask to come off. His goals and his performance say it all."
Kaká: "The market is open and there are clubs that have acknowledged that they're in negotiations with him. We'll see the outcome on 31 January. If nothing has been decided by that date then he'll continue to be part of our squad. We call up those that are in the best form."
Mourinho's silence: "I don't know if and when he'll do another press conference. The players never spoke before, but are doing so now because everyone was asking them to. He'll speak when he feels it necessary."
Arbeloa's absence: "He's OK, but he'd played a lot of matches and we decided that he needed to rest."
