Barcelona midfielder Xavi Hernández will sign a contract extension next Monday, taking his current deal to 30 June 2016, according to a press release from the club. World champion and double European champion Xavi's current deal expires at the end of next season and the club were keen to keep him at the Nou Camp. He is booked in at 4pm on Monday to finalise the new deal, which adds two years, and an 80 million buyout clause.
The Catalan club announced that Xavi would be resigning just before the Christmas holidays, along with Club Captain Carles Puyol and star striker Leo Messi. Puyol signed his deal last Monday, whilst Messi is expected to sign in the next few days.
