Antonio Adán joined Iñaki Sáez and Ginés Meléndez in Friday's presentation of the 2013 Football Draft which was held at the Spanish Football Federation Headquarters in Las Rozas. The goalkeeper feels that the treatment he received after finding himself in the middle of a dispute concerning the first choice goalkeeping slot at Real Madrid constituted a lack of respect.
"It wasn't just disrespectful for forgetting about my trajectory in the youth teams, some of the opinions about me were opportunistic. I have been trying to remain on the fringes of all of this and I have no idea whether I will start against Valencia on Sunday. Mourinho is the person who has the authority to decide who will be in the team", he told reporters at the event.
"It's the coach who picks the team; it has nothing to do with me. If he decides that I will start in all of the remaining league games? Those are your words, not mine. The only thing I do know is that last season, I played five games and that was an important step up the ladder for me as I need to be getting minutes. My relationship with Iker is fantastic. Let's not forget that we are talking about the captain of Real Madrid and the Spanish national team. He has helped me a lot over the past few years", Adán continued.
The keeper also rejected claims of an alleged dressing room argument between Mourinho and Cristiano Ronaldo, saying, "There was no confrontation. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion, we are all adults".
