José Mourinho was spotted at Old Trafford watching Manchester United host Liverpool on Sunday afternoon.
The Portuguese coach wanted to see Sir Alex Ferguson's side in action before Real Madrid face United in the second round of the Champions League in a month's time.
United travel to the Santiago Bernabéu on 13 February, while the second leg takes place on 5 March at Old Trafford.
Madrid are currently third in La Liga, on 37 points after 19 games, while United are top of the Premier League, with a seven point lead over neighbours and arch rivals Manchester City before today.
Mourinho watched the game with his son, after travelling to Manchester the morning after seeing his team draw 0-0 with Osasuna in Pamplona. He travelled with security guards employed by Real Madrid and will return to the Spanish capital after the game to begin preparations for Madrid's next game, against Valencia in the quarter finals of the Copa del Rey on Tuesday.
