The Santiago Bernabéu faithful aired its feeling when the stadium announcer read out the team list for this evening's meeting with Real Sociedad. The crowd erupted when Iker Casillas' name was read out, chanting, "Iker, Iker, Iker". The fans have shown support for their captain since he was demoted to the subs' bench for the Week 17 meeting with Málaga. And Casillas found himself in a similar position on Sunday, with Antonio Adán given the nod to start.
In sharp contrast, when Mourinho's name was read out, there was loud jeering, boos and whistles from many sections of the ground.
Bizarrely, Casillas had to strip off his tracksuit and enter the game with just six minutes gone as Adán was issued a direct red card for a two-footed challenge and sent for an early bath.
The Madrid captain, however, was unable to stop Xabi Prieto's penalty, which levelled the score.
