Former Real Madrid midfielder José Marí Gutiérrez, better known as Guti, has backed Iker Casillas following José Mourinho's decision to drop the goalkeeper for Madrid's 2-3 defeat to Málaga on Saturday, declaring that the Madrid captain is "the best goalkeeper in the world".
Guti played with Casillas in the 'Partido por la Ilusión', a charity football match organised by the goalkeeper which took place in the Spanish capital on Sunday evening.
"Iker knows that he is the best goalkeeper in the world and that everything will return to normal soon," said Guti about his former team-mate.
However, Guti refused to comment on whether there was a conflict between Casillas and Mourinho.
"It's not about choosing between Iker or Mou, the most important thing here is Real Madrid. It's fundamental that the team return to normal as soon as possible."
