Former Real Madrid legend and current director Emilio Butragueño expressed his excitement at 'Los Blancos' being drawn with Manchester United in the second round of the Champions League.
"It will be a fantastic occasion for the fans and the players," he said.
"It's an honour to face such a prestigious team. We hope we'll be at full strength when we play them, with all of our players ready to play."
However, the former striker admitted Alex Ferguson's side would be difficult opponents and would not have been his preferred opponents.
"I would have liked for us to play against United later on in the competition, and they won't be too happy about drawing with us.
"It doesn't matter who we would have preferred to get, we have to prepare well for the game. It's motivating for the players, the supporters and the club. Now we have to take advantage of the occasion."
