Former Spain coach Luis Aragonés has rejected talk that the race for the league title in Spain is already over, and has responded to Atlético Madrid coach Diego Simeone's comments that "the league is boring" after he saw his side swept aside 4-1 by Barcelona on Sunday at the Camp Nou.
"I would not arrive to the same conclusion, in saying that it is boring, because there are two teams that are playing for the league title, and then you have three or four teams playing for the Champions League, which is also interesting, and then the race to avoid relegation," Aragonés told 'Onda Cero'.
"It is not boring, but it is becoming a bit tiresome," he added. "Right now the league is a one horse race, but Real Madrid are never going to give in and will keep on fighting while Atlético Madrid have a chance because they have been playing tremendously."
Aragonés, who won the league as both a player and a coach with 'Los Colchoneros', praised the work of Simeone again, saying "'El Cholo' is doing an extraordinary job and the team are responding to the demands of the fans and their coach," and declared that Barcelona "are even better than they were under Pep Guardiola".
