"There's an obligation to defend the players and our coach, José Mourinho, because he's the best in the world." That was the emphatic declaration from Real Madrid's vice president Eduardo Fernández de Blas, at the Madrid supporters clubs' Christmas dinner. Florentino Pérez wasn't present to witness this demonstration of support for the Portuguese, although he arrived later on. The president will also attend the presentation of pennants for members completing their 25th, 50th and 60th years with Real Madrid, tomorrow. It's predicted that his speech will be on similar lines to that of his colleague today. Florentino will back Mourinho.
Fernández de Blas used the occasion in front of the supporters to call for unity with the objective of winning titles: "We hope to keep doing big things and to win the Champions League that we're all so excited about." The Castilla players Mosquera and Antonio Martínez were also present, as they couldn't play in Lugo.
