Ernesto Valverde praised his players fighting spirit after Valencia picked up three points in his first game in charge.
'Los Ché' beat Osasuna 1-0 away from home thanks to a second half goal by Roberto Soldado to get their first win in the league in three matches and move up to 11th place.
"It was a very hard-fought victory," said Valverde after the game.
"In this stadium Osasuna demand a lot of you, they put you under pressure and they force you to play like them. All the players deserved the victory, they all had a look at themselves. We definitely turned up today and boy did we need to."
Valverde said what he most liked about his players "was the attitude they showed from the first minute".
"It has been a tough week with a change in coach and this can cause a little crisis in some teams, but we went out onto the pitch knowing what we were capable of.
"I've not had much time to get to know the players, we've just had a couple of training sessions and a few team talks. When you come into a new team in the middle of the season there's not much you can do. The players were aware of what they needed to do and we got the win thanks to them."
