José Mourinho is looking to one of his former clubs for the solution to his left-back problems.
According to the 'Daily Mirror', the injury to Marcelo has lead the Madrid coach to enquire about Ashley Cole, one of his favourite players during his time at Stamford Bridge, and whose contract runs out at the end of the season.
The 31-year-old Cole has been Chelsea's first choice left back since he joined the Blues from Arsenal in the summer of 2006. However, it is unlikely he will sign a new deal with the West London club, who are only offering him an extra year on his contract. Therefore, the club may look to sell him in January in order to make some money on him before he leaves for free in the summer.
Madrid are not the only club interested in signing Cole, with PSG reported to be chasing his signature, and the player's mother declaring on Facebook that her son was going to a club "easily accessible by the Eurostar"
PSG coach Carlo Ancelotti also managed Cole at Chelsea, between 2009 and 2011, and if the left-back did move to Paris he would be reunited with former Chelsea centre-half Alex.
