Carles Puyol has returned to training with Barcelona, five weeks after dislocating his elbow during a Champions League game with Benfica.
The Barcelona captain could now feature in Tito Vilanova's squad to face Mallorca on Sunday, which will be announced on Saturday.
Although the club's doctors predicted the defender would be out for between six to eight weeks, Puyol has once again recovered ahead of schedule and appears to have put another horrific injury behind him.
Thiago Alcántara, however, is still a long way from returning to action. The midfielder tore the ligaments in his right knee 40 days ago and today began to train by himself, but is still at least three weeks away from returning to full training.
Three players from Barça B - Cristian Tello, Jordi Quintillà and Miguel Ángel - participated in Friday's morning session, the first since the 1-2 defeat to Celtic in Glasgow on Wednesday.
