Barcelona will hold a referendum this season in which the club's members will vote on the future of the Camp Nou, namely if they would prefer to renovate the stadium or build an entire new stadium.
According to club spokesman Toni Freixa, the club's board of directors will hold a meeting with senior club members on 22 September to ask permission to hold the referendum, but stressed that no fixed date would be set at the meeting.
The future of the club's stadium is set to dominate the meeting. A number of options are on the table, ranging from doing nothing at all to the Camp Nou, to reconstructing parts of the stadium, rebuilding the entire stadium on the same site or constructing a new stadium on a different site.
If permission is granted to hold a referendum, the club will decide on a single outcome for the future of the stadium and invite all club members to vote on the matter, giving them a simple option: 'yes' or 'no' to the proposed outcome.
